A tiny calico kitten, entered the world outdoors, separated from her mother at an early age, and longing for companionship.

Marlena, the compassionate founder of Be Their Voice Animal Rescue in Atlanta, GA, swiftly came to her aid upon learning of her plight.

At just five weeks old, Uno was frail, weighing only 0.8 pounds, a far cry from where she should have been. Covered in dirt and hunger gnawing at her tiny frame, she was rushed to safety by Marlena and her team.

“I picked her up that night. She was around five weeks old based on her teeth and physical features. She only weighted 0.8 pounds, where she should’ve weighed 1.25 pounds,” Marlena shared.

“We rushed straight to the closest of our rescue homes for supplies to feed her. She suckled on my friend’s hand the whole way there.”

Just skin and bones moment Uno was rescued, she voraciously consumed 30 ounces of kitten formula, signaling her desperate need for nourishment.

Bottle-fed every four hours, she craved constant companionship.

Despite her diminutive size, Uno possessed a robust set of vocal cords, sometimes screaming at the top of her lungs at feeding time, along with a fervent purring engine.

She sought solace by nestling against her foster mom’s ears or cuddling close after each meal, finding comfort in the warmth of affection.

Uno’s penchant for clinging extended beyond mere physical closeness; she yearned to be cradled, to feel the reassuring touch of human hands.

As she grew, her energy flourished, evident in her playful antics and fearless demeanor.

Over time, Uno’s circle of companions expanded to include Tess, a tabby kitten with whom she formed an instant bond.

Together, they navigated the world of socialization and found solace in each other’s company.

When adoption day arrived, Uno and Tess embarked on a new chapter together, joined later by Bessie, another rescue kitten.

Uno, once the follower, now stood as a confident leader, her resilience and tenacity shining through.

Today, Uno thrives in her forever home, a testament to her indomitable spirit and unwavering will to survive.

As she basks in the love and care of her adoptive family, Uno remains a cherished reminder of the power of compassion and second chances.

“Since day one, she has been a sassy, strong survivor. Her will to live is unmatched and incredible to experience. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to rescue her,” said Marlena.
