A basement-dwelling cat leaps into her arms taking the only chance that has come her way!

Meagan, from Puppy Kitty NY City, received a distress call about a young cat residing in a basement, desperately in need of rescue. After witnessing the poor living conditions and the kitten’s wobbly gait in a video, she rushed to the location immediately after finishing work, determined to provide a better life for the tiny lifeform.

“I wanted to get her out of there ASAP,” Meagan shared.

Upon arrival, the kitten, later named Chickpea, eagerly jumped into Meagan’s arms, displaying readiness to be rescued. Despite being dirty and smelling like dirt, Chickpea’s affectionate demeanor made her so endearing.

“She was filthy and smelled like dirt, but she’s the most perfect baby.”

In the car, Chickpea nestled on Meagan’s lap, expressing a strong desire to stay close. After a thorough cleanup and examination at the shelter, Meagan brought Chickpea home to foster, ensuring she was safe and sound.

Chickpea, diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia (wobbly cat syndrome), proved to be fearless, curious, and full of energy. Unfazed by her condition, she explored her new surroundings, relishing her first toy and exhibiting boundless joy.

The little wobbly kitten, with a relentless purr engine, quickly adapted to her new environment.

Despite her unique gait, Chickpea engaged in playful antics, prancing around and bouncing back with resilience after tumbles.

“She is such a sweet and happy kitten. It was amazing to experience her first bath and first toy.”

Meagan provided practical suggestions to accommodate Chickpea’s needs, emphasizing the importance of heavy low bowls, a low litter box, and more carpeted areas for her comfort.

When introduced to Meagan’s resident cat, Figgy, Chickpea received a warm welcome. The two cats soon bonded, playing and chasing after toys with evident camaraderie.

Chickpea’s indomitable spirit, coupled with Figgy’s guidance, showcased her ability to live a happy and fulfilling life.

“Figgy and Chickpea are having a blast. She can eat, play, run, and use the litter box. She is super happy and purrs away the second you touch her.”

Chickpea’s transformation from a basement-dwelling cat to a spirited and playful companion highlighted her resilience and zest for life.

Despite her wobbly movements, she embraced each day with enthusiasm, proving that her differences only added to her charm.
