Deemed “Too Old,” A Senior Cat Is No Longer Wanted, And Forced Onto The Streets To Fend For Herself!

A kind-hearted 15-year-old cat found herself abandoned on the streets by her owners, who deemed her too old.

Trixie, the senior cat, was a well-known figure in the neighborhood, particularly to her next-door neighbor Denah, who lived just a block away. Denah’s German Shepherd dog, Addie, had always been fond of cats and had spent years admiring Trixie through a window.

Denah was taken aback when she spotted Trixie wandering the streets, so she scooped her up and brought her to her own family.

The following morning, while enjoying a leisurely walk with Addie, the dog alerted Denah to something hiding beneath a parked car.

“It was Trixie. I called out to her, and she approached me, despite Addie crying to be by her side. As I held her in my arms, she began purring immediately,” said Denah.

Recognizing the need to provide shelter, food, and water for the woman, Denah decided to bring her to the safety of her home’s garage.

The hungry kitty eagerly consumed all the food provided, but she seemed a bit uneasy and unhappy, prompting Denah to take action. Realizing the importance of seeking help, Denah reached out to the nearby Friends for Life Rescue Network shelter in Southern California.

The shelter promptly contacted Trixie’s owner, who willingly agreed to sign the necessary paperwork to release her into their care. Meanwhile, Denah continued her efforts to care for the cat and took her to the veterinarian for a series of tests.

The examinations revealed that Trixie was unable to fend for herself, as she had missing teeth and no claws. Denah understood the unfortunate circumstances that led to Trixie being abandoned on the streets by her family.

At the veterinary clinic, Trixie displayed signs of anxiety, but her anxiety was alleviated by the presence of Denah, who comforted her and provided a sense of security.

Jacqueline DeAmor, co-founder of the Friends for Life Rescue Network, expressed admiration for Trixie’s resilience, remarking, “Trixie’s ability to survive on the streets for so long without fangs or claws is truly remarkable. We are committed to bringing her to our rescue facility and finding her a loving forever home.”

Denah, concerned for Trixie’s well-being, closely examined the unsupported paw and discovered a wound that was likely caused by another animal’s bite. Determined to provide proper care, she ensured that the injury would be treated appropriately.
