Finding Homes For The Kittens And Getting Mom Spayed Was Going To Be No Easy Task Given Her Location!

Knowing she was at a high risk of becoming pregnant again she knew she needed to be spayed as soon as possible. No easy task considering her location!

After moving into their new home, in the farming area of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Canada, earlier this year, a family found someone else had already moved in!

A stray cat had moved into their barn and was raising a litter of highly energetic little kittens. A wise move on her part as Canadian winters are renowned for being cold.

The new homeowner, Joanie, knew it was still going to be cold for the young family, even in the barn. So she placed some shelters in the barn to help keep them all warm.

Knowing that the new mom was at a high risk of becoming pregnant again, Joanie wanted to get her spayed and find homes for the kittens. No easy task considering her rural location.

Joanie contacted all the vets and shelters in the Abitibi area and found the mom could not be spayed for several months. With no help forthcoming, Joanie reached out to Chatons Orphelins Montréal for help, even though they were over 700kms away.
