After seeing a photo of an orphaned kitten, Jacqueline Santiago could see right away he was different.
Bright blue eyes set off by a twisted snout, so so skinny with a snaggletooth grin. But it wasn’t till she met him that she realized just how special he really was.
“I couldn’t really make out what was going on with his face until he arrived,” said Santiago, owner of Friends for Life Rescue Network.
Pinocchio, as it turns out, had been born with a cranial abnormality, giving his face a twisted appearance that made him look so unique. His jaw was so badly misaligned that he could only eat soft food.
Along with these issues, he also had an umbilical hernia that required an urgent operation. Thankfully the rescue had an in-house vet that specializes in special needs cases.
Upon meeting the now four-month-old kitten, Jacqueline could tell he was unaware he was different from any other kitten. “He was very, very sweet upon first meetings,” Santiago said.”[He] purred right away.”
A very friendly kitten, Pinocchio quickly befriends almost every animal and human he comes across in daily life. “Pinocchio isn’t the shy type,” Santiago said. “He’s extremely confident and greets everyone almost immediately.”
