Isolated Starved And Neglected She Screamed At The Top Of Her Lungs!

After seeing a feral mom and her babies a well-meaning couple decided to trap one of the kittens and place her in a better situation.

Sadly, what happened was the pretty calico was separated from her mum way too early and placed in a life-threatening situation. Thankfully, Marlena, founder of Be Their Voice Animal Rescue, Atalanta, Georgia, found out about the kitten’s plight and sprang into action.

“I picked her up that night. She was around five weeks old based on her teeth and physical features. She only weighted 0.8 pounds, where she should’ve weighed 1.25 pounds. She is filthy, crunchy, (stiff ufr) and I can feel every bone in her body, ” said Marlena.

Uno had been with her well-meaning rescuers for weeks, underfed and alone in their bathroom, crying at the top of her lungs.

“We rushed straight to the closest of our rescue homes for supplies to feed her. She suckled on my friend’s hand the whole way there. She sucked down 30 ounces of milk within the first 20 minutes of rescue. She has no concept of the wet food and despite being five weeks old solely on the bottle being fed every four hours.”

Due to her previous isolation, being locked in the bathroom for hours on end, Uno would scream at the top of her lungs when left alone even for the briefest of moments.

“Despite the well and good intentions, Uno was starved, isolated, and neglected for weeks. She would have been better off staying with mama,” said Marlena.

“There are certain times when intervention is appropriate–if they are injured or visibly ill.”

Uno quickly made herself at home, shunning all comfortable napping areas, preferring human contact in the form of laps, necks, and arms.

A vet appointment was and went well except for one major issue! Uno was very healthy bar a parasitic infection, Giardia, which meant every cat and kitten in the home would have to be treated until the all clear was given.

As the days went by Uno was still very much a clingy kitten, loving to be held and cuddled, often falling asleep in any available lap.

Though she did seem to realize she would not be alone again, she was safe, gaining enough confidence to fall asleep in other places.

Over time her stomach issues cleared up, and she began to grow at a rapid rate.

As she grew her energy levels soared, taking to play like a kitten unleashed!

She took on toys twice her size with as much gusto and ferocity as her tiny body could muster.

Now that Uno had kicked her parasitic infection it was time for socialization to help overcome her extreme case of single-kitten syndrome.

She quickly hit it off with another kitten called Tess, quickly forming an unbreakable bond.

Even better news to come only a few weeks later when Uno and Tess were ready for adoption they were adopted as a pair.

Both kittens had found their forever home as a pair.

They both settled right into their new home with Uno still very much the leader, making sure she is always the first one to be fed.

“She is thriving in her forever home & her rescue was made possible because of YOU & your support!!! THANK YOU,” says Marlena.
