His Eyes Still Closed, It Was Clear He Had Been Looking Out For His Brother From Day One!

Late last year a pair of orphaned siblings were found in the nick of time by a group of kind-hearted people and brought to a veterinary clinic for emergency care.

Only six days old, one of the brothers still hadn’t even opened his eyes yet, though both around-the-clock care which includes feeding every couple of hours.

“Rain and River are two handsome 6-day-old brothers who just arrived in my care! They appear so healthy and active which is just a breath of fresh air for me. As you can see Rain already has some peepers coming through even being the smallest of the pair, while River is still awaiting an eyeball fairy visit,”  said Cass, co-founder of Foster Kittens Of Melbourne.

“We got notified about them from another rescue who had picked them up in order to ensure their safety,” Cass went on to say.

What quickly became clear to Cass soon after the tiny pair’s arrival, was how close they were.

“River (tabby) is significantly larger than his brother Rain (white), and their bond was noticeable instantly. They refuse to settle unless they are together,” Cass said.

River and Rain quickly went from strength to strength under Cass’s care, especially River who was happy to let Cass know when it was feeding time via his voice.

 “Both boys have gained over 30g since arriving late Saturday afternoon, they love their food. I can already tell these boys are going to be a handful when they’re on the move, we already receive mountains of attitude and love.”

Despite being the younger of the pair, River is clearly the bolder more out going brother, and very protective of Rain, who very much follows his lead.

“River is the protecting big brother to Rain, who always looks out for him, while Rain is the little brother who follows his every move,” said Cass.

“Rain absolutely loves food, it usually results in me having to stop him from over feeding on the bottle, following that I get a serious talking to from him with teenage grade attitude. He’s a happy little man who loves love and above all else, loves his brother River.”

These two do absolutely everything together.

What is clear to everyone who meets them is that these to absolutely adore each other and now just starting to take their first tentative steps out of their nest.

“We can’t wait to watch them together as they grow and get up to all kinds of mischief.”

“Rain is still learning to be social but River is in love with Archie. These brothers are just so incredibly loving, playful and cheeky; we can not wait to watch as they develop further.”

“With every new day that comes they learn new things, conquer new challenges and get stronger, healthier and closer to their forever home together,” said Cass.
