And just for a moment, we can see the true potential human beings really have. Mohammad Alaa Aljaheel lives in one of the most dangerous war zones on earth, he lives in a place where most of the population fled fearing for their lives. He lives in Aleppo, Syria.
And there he intends on staying, “no matter what,” because over 200 lives depend on him to survive. Alaa began to care for homeless cats whose families had left behind when they fled the country.
As word of his selfless act spread more and more people began leaving their cats with him when they left Aleppo. So now Alaa cares for over 200 animals, mostly cats, but some dogs too.

He recalls how a little girl burst into tears as she left her cat with him. She had raised it since it was a tiny kitten. Her parents had wanted to flee Aleppo, they could not take her pet with them.
She begged Alaa to send her pictures, and he promised he would; now, he frequently sends her snapshots of her beloved pet. The girl pleaded, “Please promise to return my cat back to me when we come back,” Alaa explained in a video by BBC. What started as a group of 20-30 cats grew to over 100 in a year’s time.
