Significantly Smaller Than Her Siblings, She Was On the Backfoot From Day One, But, If Nothing Else, She Was A Fighter!

Around two months ago, a litter of four kittens was discovered outside when their cries were heard by a concerned individual.

Nanette, a compassionate rescue volunteer in the South Bay, immediately sprang into action, securing the kittens and seeking help from local rescue groups.

Jen, a dedicated foster parent affiliated with Wrenn Rescues, stepped up to care for the kittens when no one else could take them in.

The tiny felines were just around 10 days old when they arrived under Jen’s nurturing care.

Among the litter, Meringue, the runt, stood out due to her significantly smaller size compared to her siblings.

“I really didn’t stop worrying about them. Meringue wouldn’t take the bottle and needed to be tube-fed. They were all difficult eaters and slow to grow,” Jen said.

Jen’s worry for their wellbeing was unrelenting, and although one kitten, Ganache, sadly didn’t survive, Meringue fought on tenaciously, along with her sister Buttercream and brother Caramel.

Jen’s meticulous care and abundant TLC gradually turned things around for the trio.

Suddenly, they all started eating well, and even Meringue showed remarkable progress, gaining 200 grams in a week.

“She is the very definition of tiny but mighty. She is definitely going to rule the roost when they get bigger.”

As they grew, they became more active and playful, and Meringue closely followed her sister Buttercream around the pen, forming an unbreakable bond.

The kittens were like a synchronized choir, all screaming with excitement whenever Jen arrived with their bottle.

They fed every 3-4 hours during the day, and their demand for nourishment was undeniably enthusiastic.

With Jen’s devoted care, each kitten surpassed the one-pound mark, reaching significant milestones in their development.

The transition to solid food was introduced, with Caramel and Buttercream weaning themselves in their own time.

Meringue was the last to part with her beloved bottle, deciding to let go at almost eight weeks old.

Despite her tiny size, she learned to conquer the cat tree with her unique method of leaping from it to the nearby lounger before making her final descent.

Meringue and Buttercream share an inseparable and endearing bond, and they are set to be adopted together into a loving forever home.

Their brother, Caramel, is also ready to find his own special place.

“They have the best personalities. All three kittens purr the second I walk into the room. When I sit down, they all have to be on me.”

“They are so sweet, loving, and insanely playful,” said Jen.

The three kittens have captivated Jen’s heart with their affectionate purrs, loving nature, and boundless playfulness. Their resilience and determination throughout their journey have left an indelible mark on those who cared for them.
