Unable To Walk Or Stand, Her Condition Rapidly Declining, She No Longer Wanted To Eat!

Not able to walk or stand, no longer wanting to even eat, that’s when Nikki committed to helping her no matter what!

Nikki Martinez, a TNR rescuer and foster volunteer based in Las Vegas was at the municipal shelter arranging to pick up a kitten when she asked if she could help another kitten brought in as a stray?

Given the name Schmutzie, she wasn’t able to walk let alone stand due to neurological issues. She didn’t even want to eat! Worried about her condition at the time, Nikki made the commitment then and there to help her.

That very first night Nikki fed the tiny feline throughout the night bringing her back from the brink.

Schmutzie soon bounced back, asking for pats and cuddles with the quietest meows ever.

“I started to notice that she really likes chin scratches and affection. She would even start to purr,” Nikki said. “She’s so sweet and chill, she loves sitting in the pouch of my sweatshirt and being carried around. Her silent meows mean ‘more pets now!”

Schmutzie soon started making huge strides on a daily basis. Over the next few weeks, the wobbly little black Panther grew not only in size but also in strength.

Despite being unsteady on her legs she loved to play, pouncing on toys and jumping around. She fell a few times but she picked herself right up to try again.

Rescued with a severe disability what she would need most is a friend, someone to be there for her, and look out for her.

Noticing he was much calmer she picked him up. Snuggling in he didn’t move an inch until he was sound asleep.

As she got older her overall condition improved. She became far more steady on all four paws and was faster than ever. She loved companionship too, constantly seeking out Nikki.
