Heavily Pregnant She Crossed Two States To Find A Safe Place To Deliver Her Kittens

Nala was in a high kill shelter two states away from Indiana, she was heavily pregnant, and no one close to where she was could help. What happened next was a miracle!

Here Kitty Kitty Rescue in Indiana decided to try and save Nala and her unborn kittens, bringing her across two states to safety. Transport was arranged and the process set in motion. Their biggest concern was that Nala would go into labor during her long journey!

But the journey went well and Nala arrived in Indiana the way she left, completely on her own. And that was the way it remained for a couple of days. One morning her carers went out to run some errands only to return and find Nala with a litter of six brand new kittens.

Nala must have felt she had finally found a safe place to deliver her kittens, a place she felt safe and secure. A place she felt her kittens would get all the help they needed.

As it was Nala being a stray was underweight, and her kittens were no exception. All were well underweight, especially the little girl, who weighed in at only 2 1/2 oz. They were watched closely for the next few days. But the news was good, as all kittens including the little girl were steadily gaining weight.

And so it was and still is, after being just one week old all kittens are still doing well. Nursing as they should and steadily gaining weight. And Nala herself is no exception to the rule. She is setting a good example to her young ones by doing the same. Eating well and gaining weight.

Well done Nala and well done Here Kitty Kitty Rescue of Indiana.

Read on to hear what they have to say:

“We got Nala from a high kill shelter 2 states away. She was very pregnant and no one any closer would help her. A transport chain was arranged to get Nala to (Here Kitty Kitty Rescue in) Indiana. Our biggest concern was that Nala would go into labor during the long trip! We had Nala a few days and she was showing no signs of labor,” Jennifer Adams Gillispie of Here Kitty Kitty Rescue told Love Meow.

“One morning, we went running errands. We were only gone 2 hours and came home and found Nala had had 6 kittens. They were all very tiny, especially the only girl. The little girl only weighed 2 1/2 oz. Nala had 3 buff kittens and 3 Orange kittens. We watched the babies very closely the first few days, weighing them every day. Much to everyone’s relief all 6 kittens are steadily gaining weight.”
