Constantly Crying He Seemed To Be Trying To Tell Her Something! But What?

She came home from the animal shelter excited. Eager to welcome her rescue kitten home and help him settle into his new life.

Alana Hadley had adopted her kitten Ares from a local Door County animal shelter in Wisconsin. She couldn’t wait to bring him home and help him settle in. But just things just didn’t go well right from the start.

He meowed almost non-stop all day long, practically until he fell asleep at night. Something was bothering the four-month-old kitten, no matter how much she Alana tried to comfort him he remained very unsettled. It was almost as if he was trying to tell her something.

“I originally thought he was meowing because he wanted attention and to be by us,” Alana told The Dodo.

It really didn’t matter what Alana tried, she might get a quick respite, but sooner rather than later, Ares would start howling again. Alana had a hunch as to what might be going on.

“I realized it’s probably because he was never away from his sister and wanted her,” she said.

Ares had arrived at Wisconsin Humane Society’s Door County Campus with his sister Aphrodite, a grey tabby at the end of December.

Alan had gone to the shelter fully intending to adopt both kittens, keeping brother and sister together. However, someone had already filled an application to adopt Aphrodite, leaving her with no choice but to bring Ares back home alone.

But Alana told the shelter the nigt of Ares’ adoption just how upset he was. “He has been almost nonstop meowing until he goes to sleep and then meows again when he’s awake,” she said. “We think he misses his sister and is grieving being taken away from her.”
