Severely Underweight, Covered In Open Wounds, It Was Clear Life On The Streets Had Taken Its Toll!

As soon as the little ball of fur arrived Runt took her under his paw.

He soon began providing the care he had been missing for most of his life. Spending time with initially scared kittens, making them feel more comfortable, they soon settled in. After a life of fighting to survive, he was going to help others in need. If anyone knew what it was like it was Runt, he could empathize.

He had become like a father figure to these orphaned kittens, giving them the love that they needed to live life to the full. After a few weeks in foster care, Emily had fallen in love and couldn’t bear to see runt go, knowing he had already found his forever home.

“He is FIV+ but that hasn’t slowed him down. The vet estimates him to be around 14 years old. He is the most easy-going cat. I brought home a tiny kitten under a pound. I didn’t expect her to make it, but Runt took it upon himself to nurture and clean — almost like a mom — and she pulled through,” said Emily.

In late April, Dolly, a tuxedo kitten, was found in an engine block of a truck and brought to the shelter as a singleton. There she met another rescue kitten, Reece, who was found hiding out in a shed. Dolly was shy and timid, but that quickly changed when she met Runt.

Runt immediately took to Dolly, stepped in to be her new parent, and started grooming her. The shy tuxedo quickly calmed down after that. “He became a surrogate father to the foster kittens that have come through our house.”

Despite his tough life trying to survive on the streets, Runt continues to show affection to all the kittens in need.

It is as if he is giving back, showing them the same love and attention he received when he was rescued.
