Outside the apartment complex, a resident sees a sick kitten curled up outside on a hot day. Skin and bone, eyes crusted shut the kitten appeared very sick and could barely move.
The concerned resident placed a plea for help on social media for this very sick kitten and quickly got a response. Dan a local animal rescue specialist, and Lucie a volunteer quickly arrived at the scene and assessed the situation.
What they found was heartbreaking, a kitten, about five to six weeks old, so thin he was practically skin and bones, was curled into a ball in the middle of the apartment walkway.
His eyes were almost completely crusted shut, clearly unwell he was running a high fever!
The poor little thing was so weak he could barely move, dehydrated he was given something to drink. After cleaning him up Dan and Lucie got some food into him.
The next stop was the vets for immediate treatment. Antibiotics were provided to fight his fever, and topical fluids were provided for his eyes.
Despite his fragile condition, he purred up a storm, he knew that at last he was being taken care of.
After being treated and stabilized Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a local rescue organization step in and took him under their wing. Marvel, as they named him, was put into foster care where he could focus on healing in a caring environment.
He soon developed and upper respiratory infection, but that was quickly treated and as time went by he went from strength to strength. His personality began to shine through.
When he was nine weeks old, they noticed he was losing his long brown fur, which left him with his short coat underneath.
“Marvel has begun to lose his brown coat. He still has patches of long hair on his body and short hair everywhere else,” Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal said.
They are unsure about the cause of his hair loss, but the kitten is otherwise doing well, and has recovered fully from his illnesses – his eyes have cleared up and he no longer has sniffles.
Marvel is getting more playful each day with his newfound energy.
“He is very sweet and easy-going. He likes other kittens and always sleeps near his humans.”
Now at 12 weeks old, Marvel has blossomed into a gorgeous panther kitty with bright eyes and an adorable personality.
The former alley cat was taken off the streets and given a chance at a better life.
He’s so happy that he will never be alone again and is constantly loved.
