They saw a stray cat near their house so decided to help her. This small act of kindness not only possibly saved her life, but the lives of others.
She was very shy, probably she had good reason to be. But she was starving and could not resist a welcome meal. They fed her on a daily basis hoping she would learn to trust them.
Winter was on the way so they built her snug, a place to stay warm as temperatures dropped. They continued to feed her and gradually, over time she began to feel more relaxed around them.
Then they noticed something wrong. She didn’t look too good, it seemed as though she had not eaten in some time.
They tried to take a closer look, for a change she didn’t turn and flee. What they found surprised them all! Tucked away beneath her were four tiny balls of fur. A very similar story to what happened another lady, except she thought she was adopting one cat, not eight!
Their little stray had given birth in the snug they had built for her, the place she felt safest. She was completely exhausted so they brought her inside.
Sadly two of the litter passed away. They were so concerned about others than began looking for help.
A local animal rescuer named Danielle who heard about this families situation contacted Chatons Orphelins Montreal.
Chatons Orphelins accepted them right away, without hesitation. A volunteer, Stephanie, accepted the family into foster care.
The Mom was named Sydney, her two babies Melo and Meli.

“Sydney is very young. She is barely one year old,” Celine from Chantons Orhenlins said. “She quickly accepted help from her caretakers and adjusted very well to her foster home.”
After just 24 hours, Sydney began to seek affection and started rubbing her face all over her foster mom, giving her kisses.
“She did such a great job keeping her kittens safe, raising them until they were weaned. She was finally spayed and began spending more and more time with people,” Celine said.
The momma cat is very affectionate and will chirp whenever she sees her human friends.
“She is sweet, loves attention and wants to be close to her humans at all times.”
After wandering the streets and raising her kittens, Sydney was finally ready for a place to call her very own. Earlier this month, her dream came true.
Julia, a resident from Montreal, saw Sydney on Facebook and was instantly smitten. She came to meet the sweet girl and took her to her forever home.
Meli and Melo are three months old now. They have grown by leaps and bounds.
The two siblings are thriving in foster care and are ready for their next chapter of life.
