He Knew It Was Dead, But Something Told Him To Stop!

“YOU ALMOST HIT A DEAD CAT,” HIS PASSENGER TELLS TRUCK DRIVER DENNIS MACDONALD AS THEY TRAVEL DOWN A HIGHWAY IN BRITISH COLUMBIA.

He looks in his rearview mirror and sees a cat lying face down in a puddle, motionless and seemingly dead. But something makes him turn around, go back and check.

The weather was horrendous, with thunderstorms, torrential rain, and high winds, by the time Dennis arrives on the scene another motorist is already there, checking on the cat. It had been hit by another cat and was in pretty bad shape. But Dennis’s intuition had been correct, the cat was somehow still alive.

With great care, they manage to get the badly injured cat into a box, and then into his truck.  Before taking him to the nearest vet the other motorist informed them that if no owner stepped forward, he wanted the cat.

You can watch the interview with Dennis here:

After a thorough check over by the vet, the outlook was pretty grim. The poor felines skull was fractured, his nose was collapsed, and his jaw had to be wired shut. A tattoo was found on one ear that led to the cat’s original owner.

He had gone missing some time ago, and she was now in place that meant she could no longer care for him. She immediately surrendered the cat to the vets and Denni’s care.

“On the way out the door I told them, without hesitation, that if the owners don’t step up, I’d like to have the first opportunity to adopt him,” McDonald stated, adding if “by miracle” the cat managed to pull through his extensive injuries.
