Cute Kitten Quite Literally Fell From Above Into This Woman’s Life

It is every cat lovers dream when out of the blue, apparently from nowhere, a tiny kitten falls into your life, and you know he’s here to stay.

You could call it fate, you could call it a one in a million chance, whichever you choose for Ellie Haywood, a 28-year old tenant, and her housemates, it was a dream come true.

It didn’t happen in the same way as when a kitten walked into this man’s life. It was more sudden than that. It happened during a storm, in a tumbledown house they were renting in Melbourne, Australia. A house that Ellie describes in BuzzFeed as, “old and decrepit property” that is “totally falling apart.”

So when they heard a storm was on the way they knew they had to make preparations. Forecasters had predicted rainfall of up to 50 millimeters per hour, according to Ellie her home has 5 waterfalls even if it sprinkles.

The tenants even joked about calling the state emergency services before the storm even arrived.

And so it was, that night the storm arrived and the rain poured and the indoor waterfalls sprang into life. Then Ellie heard scratching come from inside the walls. She initially thought it could be a possum and proceeded to go about her evening chores in another room when she heard a crash.

Running to the source of the cacophony which turned out to be her bedroom she saw a hole in the ceiling. Directly beneath the hole on the floor looking rather surprised was a mother cat and her kitten!

Clearly, a stray Mom ran off leaving a helpless tuxedo kitten, wide-eyed and very fluffy, behind

“My housemates woke up and came into my room and we decided within about 30 seconds that we were keeping him, and named him Asbestos in the first 10 minutes,” she said to Buzzfeed.

Haywood is already a mom to one kitty, and she, along with her roommates, knew they wanted to keep the newcomer.

The scared baby initially hissed and bit at his new caretakers. Haywood thinks this was his first encounter with humans, and maybe even his first experience venturing outside the wall where he was living.

But it wasn’t long before Asbestos warmed up to his new family, and after a visit to the vet, it was determined that he is as healthy as a kitten can be!

“Now Asbestos is comfortable with us he’s so naughty, he loves to bite hands and feet and thinks it’s the best game,” Haywood said in the story.

Of course, Haywood’s Twitter followers couldn’t help but make jokes about how it was literally “raining cats and dogs”!

Now, this tuxedo sweetheart gets to enjoy a life full of love, care, and play instead of sneaking around and scrounging for meals within the dark walls.

We’re so glad that little Asbestos “fell” into the right hands!
