In the province of Samsun Turkey, a special place has been built just for homeless cats.
Cat town as the place is called was built inside a 10,000-kilometer wooded area located within a municipal animal shelter. The whole place took over two years to build, the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality built it to give homeless cats a safe place to live.
Cats are rescued from the street, spayed or neutered and then brought to live inside the cat town. There is no discrimination of age or health, even cats with special needs are welcome.
The resident vet and manager is Hüseyin Aydin, he provides aid to the sick cats in the shelter. Making sure they are treated and healthy before being released to live with the other cats.
The town also has a series of bridges, walking tracks and bungalows for cats to live in either alone or if they so choose, with a group of other cats. The key objective of the team at this terrific facility is that the cats can live out the rest of their lives happy and healthy.
Aydin suggests that the facility is much like a five-star hotel for felines. Anything that the cats could possibly need for their life or their health is provided by the facility. Although they are currently housing only 50 cats, Aydin says that they can definitely expand the area to house more in the future.
